I am proud to say we were judged as “Good” in all categories following our latest Ofsted inspection. The Ofsted team challenged the school across all levels, analysing data, questioning our leadership team, speaking to our students, scrutinising our teaching and observing our talented teachers. They concluded that Cornwallis Academy, “has high ambitions for all pupils”. 

Our school is a community which values outstanding teaching and a highly engaging curriculum. Our staff have an unwavering commitment to continued improvement in order to provide the best comprehensive education we possibly can.  We are also proud of the pastoral care we provide for our students. We believe every student’s success is best achieved through a close partnership between home and school. Our pastoral team is skilled and adept at supporting students to manage the transition from childhood to adulthood. This is underpinned by a comprehensive wellbeing programme which ensures that our staff and students develop the resilience and emotional intelligence to function in a balanced and positive way in a rapidly changing society.

Year 7 Admissions for 2027/2028

Applications for children due to start secondary school in September 2027 will open on 1st September 2027 and will close on 2nd November 2026.

For admissions into next year’s Year 7, parents and carers are required to complete an application form known as the “Common Application Form” (CAF) through Kent County Council.  This can be found by clicking here for the Kent County Council ‘Applying for a School’ web page.

Applications under Health and Special Access Reasons

Applications may be considered under health, medical, social or special access reasons where there is a clear and significant need for the child to attend Cornwallis Academy specifically.
Supporting evidence should explain:

• the child’s identified need;
• how this affects their education or access to school; and
• why Cornwallis Academy is the only school that can reasonably meet that need.

A diagnosis, SEND need, medical condition or preference for Cornwallis Academy alone will not normally be sufficient. Evidence should be provided by an appropriate professional and must clearly demonstrate the specific link between the child’s needs and Cornwallis Academy.

Key KCC Information for Applying to Secondary Schools

A child’s home address is defined as a residential property that is the child’s main or only residence, not an address at which your child may sometimes stay or sleep due to your own domestic arrangements. A good example 

It must be the residence of both the parent/carer and the child on Monday 2nd November 2026, the deadline for submitting your application. It should be either:

• Owned by the child’s parent, parents or carer; or
• Leased to or rented by the child’s parent, parents or carer under a lease or written rental agreement of not less than 12 months’ duration. If your circumstances mean is it not possible to secure a 12 month lease, please contact the Secondary Admissions Team by emailing kent.admissions@kent.gov.uk.

KCC reserves the right to check information that parents give on their child’s application form. When you receive the offer of a school place from KCC, you will be asked to provide the school with evidence that you and your child live at the address used on the application. This evidence can be, for example, a utility bill, bank or credit card statement, Council tax bill or any other formal documents that would show you were living at your address at the closing date for applications. The evidence you supply should be dated within the application window of Tuesday 1st September 2026 to Friday 11th December 2026.

In Year Admission

If you are looking for a place at the Academy because you have recently moved into the area, or your child is at another secondary school and you feel that a change of school would benefit their education and/or general well being, you are entitled to apply for a school place.    Please contact the Academy Admissions Officer to request an In-Year Admissions Form or download a copy at the bottom of the page.  This form must be completed and returned to the Academy Admissions Officer.  

Note: there is no guarantee that a place will be available but you have the right to appeal if you are declined a place.
