WELCOME TO CORNWALLIS’ OUTREACH PROGRAMME
Welcome to our outreach programme. At Cornwallis Academy we are extremely proud of our outstanding teachers and our broad and exciting curriculum.
Below, there is an information pack for our Year 5 Taster Sessions starting in February 2024. There is also a video that gives you a sneak peek into our classrooms and virtual 3D tour of the school.
Hopefully, this will give you some insight into our wonderful community.

Responsible for Outreach and Transition
2024 Year 5 Taster Sessions
The taster sessions are aimed at children in Year 5 and are led run by our experienced subject-specific staff. They are devised to encourage challenging and new learning opportunities whilst having fun in small groups, to help students get used to a secondary school setting. No prior knowledge is required, just an enthusiasm and interest in learning. These workshops would be ideal for children who would be looking to join the school in 2025.
This year, we will be delivering over 15 Year 5 Taster Sessions Workshops, which parents can book directly via our online booking system.
What can you expect?
What We Offer
Football Scholarship
We are offering a fully subsidised Football Scholarship, which includes weekly training sessions at Cornwallis Academy with Maidstone United UEFA Qualified Coaches; fixtures in the Kent Schools’ League, a place at the PDC (Player Development Centre) and a kit package. This will give students a 5-year progression plan with the opportunity to graduate into the Post-16 Football Academy.
Specialist Dance Programme
Is your child a talented dancer? Why not audition for our specialist dance programme. We offer a tailored dance curriculum with additional dance lessons each week taught by a Lecturer of Dance who trained in New York. Students will get the opportunity to work with a variety of professionals and experience a close partnership with Roehampton University.
A Tailored Curriculum
We offer a tailored curriculum designed to stretch, challenge and inspire our most able students. Taking a brief look at neuroplasticity, growth mindset, encouraging students to be ambitious and fulfilling their potential. We also offer a Student Leadership Accreditation Programme.
Student Leadership Opportunities
Our Student Leaders are elected by their peers and meet regularly with their Head of House and collectively as a group. There are over 60 students currently involved within the Student Leadership structure; from Year 7 up to Sixth Form, including the Head Boy/Girl team.
Duke of Edinburgh Award
We offer a balanced programme that develops the whole person – mind, body and soul, in an environment of social interaction and team working. There are three progressive levels of DofE programmes which, when successfully completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
