Welcome to the information page set-up to inform you about our next school production, which is going to be Matilda! We are very excited to be able to run rehearsals in school again and cannot wait to work with you all.
Matilda will be performed in the Lecture Theatre in the evening of Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th December 2021, with tickets being available to purchase from November onwards.
Some of you will have auditioned for shows with us before, so you will know the process. There will be some of you who have never auditioned for a show with us, but don’t worry. Its lots of fun and you will make new friends really quickly. I would like to say a special ‘hello’ to the new year 7 pupils who are reading this, ready to join us in September; I am looking forward to meeting you!
We will be running auditions for Matilda on Monday 13th September 2021, at 3pm in the Lecture Theatre. In order to help you to prepare to audition, you will need to perform a short extract from a script and sing the chorus of a song. Please read carefully the instructions below. Everything you need to know, as well as material is all contained here.
Part 1 – Script
Below you will find three different script extracts from the show Matilda. Read through all three and then choose one of the scripts as your audition material. You will need to choose a character within the script you have chosen and learn that part. Try to learn the words so you can perform from memory, but if you find this too hard, you will be allowed to use your script in the audition, so please do not worry! (Please note, the part of Miss Trunchbull could be played by either a male or female. It is played by a female in the film and a male in the West End show)
Part 2 – Song
Below you will find two MP3 files – one is the chorus from the song Naughty and the second is the chorus from the song Revolting Children. Listen to both clips and choose one song that you will sing in the audition. The lyrics for both can also be found below, so if you are able to, try to learn the words so that you can sing from memory. Again, if you find this too hard, you will be allowed to use your lyrics in the audition, so please do not worry!
Good luck and we look forward to seeing you in September!
