Department for Education Helpline

The Department for Education has launched a new helpline to answer questions about COVID-19 related to education. Staff, parents and young people can contact the helpline as follows:

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What should I do with my admission paperwork?

Complete the paperwork as soon as possible. We would like to reassure you that we have colleagues working on this as a priority. Please return this to the school via email:

My son/daughter is due to go on a school trip - will this still take place?

We have reviewed all school trips/events up until Easter. We have postponed all trips/events and sports fixtures between now and Easter.

If you have any enquiries please contact the School Office.

Public exams (GCSE and A-level)? What is happening?

The Government have cancelled all GCSE and A-Level examinations for this year. Please visit for more information.

Our family receives free schools meals - what provision is there for this?

At present, all students have received a food parcel which should last until Friday (27th March). We are in the process of looking at purchasing e-vouchers for the following weeks, more information to follow.

How much work should my child do?

The work that has been provided should last your son/daughter until the Easter Break. We recommend your child follows their specific timetable and they spend 5 hours per day on school work taking regular breaks like they would at school.

Is there work specific to my child?

At the moment all work uploaded is for the whole year group. We are working with teachers and Microsoft to look at remote learning which will mean we teachers will be able to set specific work. Please be patient as this is a completely new situation for us.

COVID-19 Email 26/02/2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

We hope you’ve had a wonderful half term break.  We are aware that some people have recently travelled back from being abroad, so in line with advice from the Department of Health and the Department for Education, we are asking anyone who has returned from an area affected by Coronavirus (COVID-19), to self-isolate for the advised time period of two weeks.

This is to ensure we are complying with the national guidance and taking all possible measures to protect our students and staff.

We are reviewing all planned trips abroad on a rolling basis and will keep you updated as and when there is information to share.

Thank you for your support.

If you have any health concerns, you should contact NHS 111.

Kind Regards

Cornwallis Academy
