We have been instructed today by Public Health England to notify you that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the Year 11 bubble.
Therefore, it is mandatory as part of Test & Trace that all students in Year 11 students self-isolate up to and including Monday 21st December as directed by Public Health England. This is a precautionary measure as your child may have been in contact with the positive COVID-19 case. The school currently remains open for Years 7, 8, 9, 12 and 13, including those who have siblings in Year 10 and /or Year 11.
As you are aware, we are doing everything we can to ensure Cornwallis Academy remains open during the current challenging situation. We know that this is concerning, and I appreciate a number of parents/carers have contacted the school to request authorised absence in the lead up to the end of term. However, the Department for Education have directed all schools to remain open if the school is able to operate with sufficient staffing. At this moment in time, the school is able to operate safely, however our staffing levels are changing daily. Therefore, Mrs Linney-Drouet and I will continue to monitor this and update you tomorrow if further action needs to be taken. Please keep an eye out for further communication.
Students will follow their normal school timetable from home. All of their lessons will be delivered by their classroom teacher via Microsoft Teams. Information on how to access Microsoft Teams is available at www.cornwallisacademy.com/teams. At the start of each lesson your child will be invited to a meeting, once they press “Join” they will be in their virtual lesson.
