We have been instructed today by Public Health England to notify you that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the Year 10 bubble.
Therefore, it is mandatory as part of Test & Trace that all students in Year 10 students self-isolate up to and including Thursday 17th December as directed by Public Health England. This is a precautionary measure as your child may have been in contact with the positive COVID-19 case. To supplement this precautionary measure, we are granting Remote Learning on Friday 18th December and therefore all Year 10 students will return to school on Monday 4th January. This will also support us in ensuring we are able to safely operate due to a number of staff absences within the Year 10 teaching groups.
The school remains open for Years 7, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13, including those who have siblings in Year 10.
We know that you may find this concerning, but we are continuing to monitor the situation and working closely with Public Health England. This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.
Students will follow their normal school timetable from home. All of their lessons will be delivered by their classroom teacher via Microsoft Teams. Information on how to access Microsoft Teams is available at www.cornwallisacademy.com/teams. At the start of each lesson your child will be invited to a meeting, once they press “Join” they will be in their virtual lesson.
